A stone veneer made of real stone, but light-weight, flexible and paperthin: that’s Slate-Lite, a range of exclusive sheet tiles that give the appearance and feel of a solid stone slab while actually being only about 1,5mm thin. Thanks to a special method, multiple very thin stone slabs can be attained from one massive block. As the original producer of this specialty stone veneer, our products are manufactured by hand and fulfill highest quality standards.
Slate-Lite unites the positive qualities of real, natural stone and a fiber glass base. It is light weight, easy to transport, extremely thin and flexible, which allows its use in a wide variety of scenarios. Indoor and outdoor wall coatings, flooring, bathroom and kitchen tiles, furniture, as well as facades are possible applications for this stone veneer. Due to the fiber glass backing and polyester resin reinforcement, it is less brittle than stone slabs and therefore more resistant to damage from falling objects or similar causes of breakage. At the same time, the panels can be easily cut to shape with a hard-metal tipped circular saw or a skill saw, and holes can be drilled into the panels to create outlets for cables or hooks for shelves, bathroom or kitchen appliances. The already high flexibility of the panel can be further increased by applying heat, allowing the stone veneer to wrap even around sharp corners, round objects and mold itself to uneven surfaces with ease. Due to this aspect, its high quality and luxurious appearance, Slate-Lite is especially popular in store construction, for bars and counters, restaurants and similar commercial areas.
In order to produce the Slate-Lite sheets, a special production technique is used. Stone slabs can only be cut so thin before they become brittle and break. The thin, 1,5mm real stone panel of Slate-Lite has to be achieved by a different approach than cutting. First, a layer of glue is applied to the natural stone slab, followed by a second layer one the first begins to harden. Then, a base made of fiber glass reinforced pvc is applied for the necessary stability and flexibility. After a drying time of 24 hours, the pvc base can be peeled off and the upper, thin layer of the stone slab will stick to the base, creating a Slate-Lite stone veneer panel that is made of real, natural stone, and yet thin and flexible as a regular stone slab could never be.
The Slate-Lite Translucent series is a product that allows light to shine through the stone sheet, creating a way to illuminate spaces indoors and outdoors that have been covered with Slate-Lite. As each sheet is made from natural stone, every one of them is completely unique, showing off the pattern of the stone beautifully. Depending on whether a cold light or a warm light source is used, different aspects of the stone pattern might be enhanced so that different looks and effects can be created with the same stone sheet. A wide variety of stones in various colors and textures allows for a selection that matches the aesthetic and style of the rest of the space.
Slate-Lite is a thin stone veneer that combines a real stone surface with a backing made of fiberglass or cotton, depending on the model. It is just 1,5mm thin and extremely light at only 1,5kg per square meter. Thus it is completely flexible while staying extremely robust, making it suitable for many applications.
There are over 40 decors available for Slate-Lite, in various colors and within those colors different patterns can be chosen. Apart from slate, variations made of myca, limestone, sandstone and marble are also available. The natural stone ensures that each stone veneer panel is unique.
